now that school has started, there're so many things on my head at any one time. work is neverending, so probably the next time we see each other, i'll either be
(1) grouchy over the lack of time to complete the neverending syllabus or
(2) worrying over the neverending ws or wb to mark.
if you ask me what i've gained so far, well...i'd say
(1) the super-fierce "glare" that my fellow colleague saw and told another to model it from me,
(2) a voice which was initially all gentle and sweet (*ahems) that turned loud and hoarse due to the excessive shouting (one of my kid had to cover her ears),
(3) learning to understand that kids cannot keep their mouths close at all times,
(4) kids come up to you for the strangest reasons (e.g. "Mrs Tham, I lost my eraser."),
(5) and ask you the strangest questions (e.g. "
Mrs Tham, you are married?!")
(6) coping with re-re-re-corrections because kids simply DON'T listen,
(7) dealing with the most childish reasons for fighting (one boy teased the other for scoring the lousiest in spelling and ended in a fight),
(8) but the best of them all......my hubby's patience, support and love in midst of all these :) and also, my family's understanding when i couldn't keep them company for a longer time over the weekends when we meet for dinner.
i've learnt to be thankful when i get my 5 hours of sleep everyday and the bus 130 arrives punctually at 6.45am at the farrer park station's bus stop so that i could get to school earlier before school starts. i appreciate when i managed to get pass a day without Brian (the anger management boy) acting up and being able to get home early on Tuesdays while i slogged through the other weekdays. ironically i've learnt to be grateful for all these small little things that in fact, made my days easier.
busy and busier everyday as the term draws to a close. i would say that each day is a challenge. different issues to deal with, different experiences - all to help in the growth of my character. for the fatigue and exhaustion, i know it's all worth it :)
because as teachers, we hold the power to......change a child's life.
