3 days down to the 2-week long induction program that's made COMPULSORY by moe. sigh, can't they give us more break? we deserved a loong hol after a super tiring and mentally-stressful practicum. my school zapped out our energy by asking us to decorate the library from 4 till 6 plus one evening, decorate the ICT board from 2 till 3 plus one afternoon and print-cut-put up some pictures in the computer room one late morning > all for some Director's visit. (*tsk* made us work like we're some cheap labour.)
i can understand why moe scheduled motivational talks over the past 3 days. haha. given the hype about whether teachers achieve any work-life balance on yahoo a few days back, i can easily say so much more given my short 10 weeks' experience at practicum. last sunday at my grandma's house, my relatives' rosy perceptions of being a teacher annoyed me very much. they claimed that being a teacher is good.
why?
"so many holidays!" but only those who are in the same profession will understand what
"holidays" mean. i didn't say much to their preceptions, i just smiled. afterall, what do they know? what do they know about the hours that we put in to prepare for a lesson? what do they know about the hours we take to mark the childrens' homework? what do they know about the hours that we take to mark the childrens' corrections? what do they know about the hours when we had to stay back for the childrens' supplementary classes and ccas? what do they know about the hours that that we had to settle the school's admin matters? what do they know? what do they know? how would they know anyway? they only know that we have TONS of HOLIDAYS in June and December!
i just hate it when ppl think that they know everything just by assuming things. teachers
go back to school during holidays
hallo. teachers need to prepare lessons for the next semester
hallo. they don't slack and do nothing at home. they WORK during the holidays! and so, to my uncle's perception of
"you all can still go for long overseas vacations during the holidays wat! so good!" - we deserved that. thank you. for all the hours that we put in, all the sacrifices of our family time, all the fatigue from marking till the wee hours through the nights > we
duly deserved the long overseas vacations.
please.
think think think before you speak.
