this entry was penned on 30 Dec 09, 9.30am (onboard the King of the Nile cruise, at the hotel lobby waiting for the guide to pick us up)
it's 9.30am here and we're waiting for the person to pick us up at 11am to Aswan Airport for our flight back to Cairo. The King of the Nile was such an irony! do we mean "King" when we get a lousy room at the lowest floor of the the cruise where
(i) the hairdryer doesn't work
(ii) the tv can't be watched
(iii) there were red stains (which i hope wasn't some blood?!) on the bedsheet
(iv) the telephone doesn't even have a dial tone
(v) there were greyed pillow cases
(vi) sticky patches on the wooden-floor
(vii) ppl barging into our room without knocking on the door
it's supposed to be a 5-star cruise! though Hazel (travel agent) has informed us that it's not our "5-star" 5-star but this is definitely only a 2-star?! guess the only consolation was the beautiful sunset that we managed to capture on the sun deck two evenings ago. you feel so calm and detached from the world just letting the cool sea breeze blow past ur cheecks and then rustle your hair.
met a group of Kenya, Nigerian family and a Polish lady as we joined them on the land tour @ Aswan for two days. they were friendly though they looked kinda hostile initially. we chatted and i guess as time passed, the mutual understanding grew and we even took a few pics before we left.
the world suddenly becomes very small when we travel. we meet ppl from diff parts of the world and learn to respect one another's race, religion and so forth. this is what i'll call, embracing diversity. or maybe to put it in another term, we're together in "this" at the host country.
with the marriage and holiday - a mix of fatigue, tears, happiness and joy, i am officially 'mrs tham' and i enjoy the title (so far! =P ) life is great and i know there're still many obstacles ahead of us. but both YK and i are positive that our love will see us thru :)
so till i get back from HK, just a short update right here from Aswan...
have a wonderful year ahead guys! *loves*
