ended wif a bang - great dinner party wif my cousins; teppanyaki, mini steamboat, red wine, wii mario kart, brainy card game, creamy blackforest cake, choc fondue, gossips and cheers...came 2009 wif handshakes, smiles and well-wishes...
looking back, 2008 has been a year of major decisions and first experiences for me.
who would have predicted the rosy start of 2008 would lead to a recession at the end of it; that i had to witness the first retrenchment in my life. moreover the person who left happened to be my right-hand man (rather - woman), my fellow colleague who has given me much assistance over the months when i couldn't breathe from my boss's
arrows. the entire episode was cruel and left me to the 'how's and 'why's wif no answers.
2008 also saw my sis flying off to Canada for her exchange for 4 months to fulfil her long-time dream. realised how much she means to me when i burst into tears the day i came back to her empty room and the tears in my eyes as i spoke to her on skype the first time. tat period of time was when i could literally feel the power of kinship across miles and oceans and it made me cherish our family even more.
it was also a year where i felt that i've grown to be more sensible and wiser. a bit of arguments and thought-provoking talks wif daddy, but on the whole, i feel that we've learnt to understand each other's thinking and feelings a little more than before. :) tat day when i was wif him at the chinese physician, my dad actually said this to me
"no matter what you do, daddy will always support you. you're my daughter, anything you do daddy will always be behind you." tat was probably the best lines he said to me in my 24 years.
*melts*2008. a retro christmas party celebration wif my dear friends of nearly 10 years! booked a room at robertson quay hotel and dressed ourselves to the 80s, a bunch of girls overdrowning in our own voices that our neighbour on the upper floor called our room's extension and no one dared to pick up the call! looking at the girls applying comestics and making their hair made me realise that...we've indeed grown up a lot over the past few years~ changes in our appearances, changes in our fashion style, changes in size (hopefully to the smaller!) but one thing i know it'll not change - our friendship, the heart to remain as friends and keep the relationship going :)
my first overseas (literally!) vacation wif mr tham to batam :) to other ppl, they might just laugh it off cos we're only talking about just the Indonesia island. but to me, this trip hasn't been easy to come by. my dad relented finally after much persuasion and talking to from me. enjoyed myself tremendously over the 3 days. *beams* the city tour, the resort, the beach, kayaking, seafood lunch, late night dinner (also = supper cos we overslept!), shopping at megamall, A&W~ can't wait for the next one!
major decisions - a few. from the proposal to putting promises into action, we have come (i dare to say) a long way. many things to think, fret and worry about, we're about three quarters way there and we'll see this through together :)
and with that, i'm embracing 2009 wif zest and excitment!
happy new yr to me, a year of blessings-happiness-dreams awaits. :)
